About Me
Dr. Philip J. Keddy, Psychologist
Welcome to my practice! With over 40 years of experience in psychotherapy and testing, I am dedicated to supporting adults and older teens facing a wide array of challenges. My approach is tailored to each individual, drawing on Jungian, psychodynamic, and existential perspectives. I emphasize careful listening and a collaborative stance to help you on your journey.
I have a strong background in helping individuals dealing with addiction, combining my training in motivational interviewing with over 10 years of experience in an outpatient treatment program for people with substance-use disorders.
Additionally, I offer consultation services for psychotherapists working with clients facing these challenges. For more information, please visit my "Consultation for Therapists" page.
I also teach psychological testing and interviewing (assessment for adults) in the Psy.D. program at the Wright Institute in Berkeley. In addition, I teach the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (R-PAS) for continuing education workshops. In 2021, my collaborators and I completed a new translation of Hermann Rorschach’s Psychodiagnostics. This was a 100th anniversary annotated edition. Over the past decade, I have presented at both national and international conferences focused on the Rorschach. Additionally, I have published assessment articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Professional Journey
I have been an independent practitioner since 1987, specializing in psychotherapy and psychological testing services. For 11 years I worked as a half-time staff psychologist in an adult outpatient program for individuals with substance use disorders at Kaiser Permanente. Prior to that, I served as a full-time staff psychologist in a residential therapeutic community for Catholic Clergy and Religious, offering therapy and assessment services. Before obtaining my license, I completed 8 years of psychology internships across various settings.
